Unless you have been disconnected from all news sources, I think it is fair to assume you have been hearing about the coronavirus. I believe there are a lot of misconceptions surrounding this new breed of coronavirus, known as COVID-19. I will try to clear a few things up for you here, as well as offer tips for keeping your immune system strong.
Firstly, the coronavirus itself is not new. It was identified in the 1960s. According to this same article, most of us will have had a coronavirus infection at least once in our lifetimes. It is one of the viral causes of the “common cold.” Past coronavirus outbreaks have occurred, one known as SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) and the other MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome), which did not spread as readily as COVID-19 seems to spread, but were more fatal. This new coronavirus appears to have its origin in other animals, possibly bats, and then transferred to the endangered pangolin, eventually making its way to humans, presumably through a seafood “wet” market in Wuhan, China.
According to the World Health Organization, and its information on COVID-19, most symptoms are mild and look like something between a cold and the flu. Those that need to take extra precautions and keep their immune systems particularly strong are the elderly and those with compromised immune systems due to underlying conditions.
As with any virus, the best defense is a great offense. Wash your hands thoroughly and often, don’t touch your eyes, nose and mouth, exercise, eat right, up your Vitamin C intake, get a good night’s sleep and practice yoga, meditation or whatever you employ to keep stress down and positivity up. Follow these five essential health habits and you will be on the right track.
Along these lines, Bill Esteb, a marketing guru in the chiropractic world, sent out his weekly email, entitled Monday Morning Motivation, with the below entry. I thought it was too good not to share.

“How to catch the coronavirus:
Eat a poor diet. Make sure your body lacks the vitamins, minerals, enzymes and micronutrients needed for optimal health.
Avoid adequate rest. Stay up late and rely on sugar, tobacco, coffee and energy drinks as needed.
Become dehydrated. Reduce the effectiveness of your natural defense mechanisms by shunning adequate water.
Stop exercising. Reduce the efficiency of your lymphatic system, which depends on movement to circulate this vital germ-fighting fluid.
Rarely wash your hands. Use your dirty hands and fingers to rub your eyes, pick your nose or wipe your lips.
Think negative thoughts. Worry that you’ll be a victim. Closely monitor news reports about outbreaks, fearing a pandemic.
Skip your chiropractic adjustments. Handicap your nervous system, the master system that controls your entire body. Wait until symptoms are present before doing anything.
The only way to catch anything is to make yourself a hospitable host.”
