My Lyme Life: Please Pardon the Parasites

Welcome to a follow-up issue of This is My Lyme Life entitled: Please Pardon the Parasites

This past spring Dr Jay Davidson took it upon himself to create the Chronic Lyme Disease Summit #2, in which he interviewed various healthcare experts who work with with chronic Lyme disease patients. One of the talks that caught my eye was about parasites. It was a very intriguing, and piqued my interest so much so that I tracked down that parasite guru and got him on the phone.

Dr. Todd Watts was very understanding and as we talked through my lingering Lyme-related symptoms, namely gut/skin issues and trouble falling back to sleep if woken in the middle of the night (YES, thankfully, as long as I ate well, exercised and slept that was all that remained!) After we finished our chat I was steadfast in my decision to try his parasite cleansing protocol. As he says, “Better out than in” when it comes to these buggers.

As a timing would have it, Dr. Jay Davidson has since teamed up with 30+ experts and is now hosting a FREE parasite summit beginning next Monday. To learn more about that, please click here. I will certainly be tuning in!

Now back to my story. After researching and tracking down the products, with Dr. Watts’ guidance, I did a two week parasite cleanse mid-summer and it was ASTOUNDING what came of me. Pictures are not included below but if you are fascinated by all of this as I am, and want a visual, please let me know. In October I will be releasing my parasite cleanse program to patients and the general public, but until then, enjoy the play-by-play, day-by-day…….

Day One: No real changes

Day Two: I noticed one of the dry skin patches on my hip decreased in both redness and itchiness

Day Three: Holy Crap (pun intended). Some long, thin, disgusting inhabitant of my gut emerged in my stool. It was so gross. My poor husband can attest to that because I took a picture and sent it to him. I will spare you all the image, unless you are a science geek like me and want to see it. Then email me 😉

Day Four: Nothing to report. No bloating to report either. Coincidence?

Day Five: Feelin’ fine

Day Six: Just when I thought I might not have much to report…worm-like particle #2 emerged. Sooooo gross. Yet soooo fascinating. You really can’t make this s*%t up!

Day Seven: All quiet on the Western Front…but I have noticed all those dry skin patches are much, much better

Day Eight: The first truly discernible worm emerged and of course I don’t have my phone on me! (N.B. the others, I have since learned, could have been a combination of worm-like creatures and mucoid plaque, a nasty combination of dead bacteria and mucous that gets stuck in the lining of the intestines and can mess with nutrient absorption, among other things.)

Day Nine: This is first day I was constipated since beginning this cleanse AND I was a brain foggy mess. Coincidence…I think not!

Day Ten: Back on track. Normal BM. No noticeable parasites but feeling MUCH better

Day 11: Nothing new but I have to wonder if as the parasites die off I am getting some sort of Herxheimer reaction. I may never know but I have added detox drops for a few days. (Reminder: a Herxheimer reaction- aka “Herx”- is the term for the body’s inflammatory reaction to bacterial die-off. One of the many things I learned from Dr. Watts is that some of the parasites could have ingested the Lyme and other bacteria, so as they all die off, toxins are being released to which the body reacts.)

Day 12: I knew something was ready this morning. A small, noticeable worm-like residue emerged but it was not picture worthy. I am happy to report I am back to feeelin’ fine! I ended my first cleanse session after Day 12 knowing I would resume another two-week stint at a later date (interestingly that “later date” turns out to be today).

“Better out than in” indeed. I never could have believed what was residing in my intestines if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes. Please, please reach out to me with any thoughts, questions or concerns. Our culture is WAY behind on this front and we need to start understanding each and every organism that can- and often does- reside in the human body.

Yours in Good Health,
Dr. Alyssa Guglielmo
